Soil and water testing lab of SSRI was established in 1990 for balanced application of fertilizer and irrigation water. The services are given free of cost to the 6,000 growers of Shakarganj. The services are beneficial to know and correct fertility level of soil and fitness status of water for judicious use of fertilizers and irrigation water resources. This facility helped to develop balanced application of nutrients that enhanced the efficiency of fertigation and profitability at farm level. Soil and water advisory service was a regular activity of this institute.
